Even at a young age, boys today have a wide variety of options for spending
their time. At Pack 1200 we are committed to delivering your child a high
quality, safe and fun-filled program.
We believe developing a strong character, healthy body and strong sense of
who you are is a top priority. We feel this is what makes scouting unique
from all the other opportunities boys have today. Not only are they
learning how to work as a team but also how to identify and make correct
decisions and how to encourage others to do the same. The focus in cub
scouts is the boy and the family. We strongly encourage parental
involvement and believe that is the reason we have been going strong for 28
years.
Activities
Below are some of the activities you can look forward to with Pack 1200
 | Campouts in the Fall and Spring. We love to camp and we love to eat good when we camp. If you have
never camped before this is a great time to try it out. We will help
you with the supplies that are required so you can get your toes wet with
out making a big financial commitment. You will also be surrounded with
lots of experienced campers who can ensure that you have a wonderful
experience. The camp outs typically include a nature hike, 2 to 3
activities and time for the family. Meals are typically served as a
Pack and don't plan on losing weight on the camp out. We take pride in
our cooking.
|
 | Pack Fall Activity
We vary this activity from year to year so the scouts will get to try
different things. Things we have done in the past are Rocket races,
Boat races and swimming.
|
 | Pinewood Derby
Stand back and watch closely as our pinewood derby cars come screaming
down the track. Each boys car gets to run at least 3 races and all
times are electronically clocked, tabulated on a computer and displayed on a
video screen for child to see. The child's race speed is adjusted to
reflect what it would be if it was a full size car, add in some sound
effects, excited boys ( and parents) and it just doesn't get any better.
|
 | Blue and Gold Banquet
Just as we like to eat good at our camp outs, well it doesn't stop
there. Our Blue and Gold Banquet is time for the whole family to come
for a fine dining experience, award some awards and watch some
entertainment. Last year we had the Critterman teach everyone about,
you guessed it, "Critters".
|
 | Fall Picnic
We like to start the year with a picnic and general play time to allow
the kids to mingle in an informal setting and get to know the new
kids. We provide some delicious hot dogs, lemonade and chips and have
a relaxing afternoon. We also include our conservation project to help
the kids get a jump start on the new year.
|
 | Summer Activities
In addition to the council's activities we will also schedule 3
activities (1 per month) during the summer. These range from visits to
various types of sites from museums to bowling alleys to swimming. We
usually are able to get a special tour included such as behind the scene
visits to make the trip more exciting.
|
 | Den Activities
Each Den meets typically once a week during the school year except for when we have Pack
meetings or it is a holiday. Each Den will work with the child to
ensure they are making progress towards their rank. We like to do this
by keeping the child engaged and actively involved rather than just
listening. Each Den will also sponsor their own outside
activities. Such as visiting Fire Stations or going to a Basketball
game.
|
 | Pack Meetings
Once a month we meet as a Pack and present the boys with their
awards. We feel it is important that each boy is recognized for the
accomplishments they have achieved. Each Den will also have
opportunities to do a skit or provide some other form of entertainment. |
